  In the 1920's, women began to develop their own sense of style and fashion. Dresses became shorter and clothing tighter. Women's figures were shown off more than they had ever been in the past. Such clothing was easier for women to dance in.
  Shorter and sleeker  hairstyles were also fashionable at the time. A new kind of women developed: The Flapper. She was more confident and made bold fashion statements.
   Accessories such as handbags, jewelry, and hats all came together cohesively to make the typical women of the 1920's.
  Famous designers known today came into being in the 1920's. Coco Chanel and Madeleine Vionnet became very popular and helped to define adn create women's fashion.

 

Men's Fashion

  Men were suits in the 1920's. Designs were simpler, with less padding and light colors.Cuffs were added to trousers.Younger men liked to wear wider legged trousers adn brighter colors than older men. A man always wore a hat, no matter the class or social standing. When Driving men wore driving caps adn gloves. Men wore differen thats for different seasons. In the sumemr men wore blazers and ordorned their heads with Panama straw hats.
  New, mail order catalogs susch as Sears and Roebucks added to the spread of men's fashion adn made it easily accesible to everyone, regardless of if you lived in a city or a rural town.
